Grosvenor Terrace Housing (1988 – 91)
This project was commissioned by a housing association that provided accommodation for single people coming out of institutional care. It enabled Matrix to explore ways in which housing spaces could be used and appropriated, particularly by people marginalised by normative housing layouts. 18 flats are grouped around three staircases, and each flat had two main rooms of similar size, to allow residents to decide how they wanted to occupy them.
