Hackney
Hackney Women’s Centre (1984-85)
During the 1980s, many projects for women’s centres both in London and across the UK were proposed. Matrix worked on three (in Bermondsey and Brixton as well as Hackney). This project was for a converted shop, and because of limited funding, work mainly centred on repairs, on a communal kitchen built by women builders, and on enabling disabled access.
